Living a Life of Gratitude
As we move into the new year with great anticipation I want you to think about this; how do we find great purpose, meaning, and fulfillment in our daily lives. As I’ve thought about this and pondered it, I think the pillars of gratitude and joy are the key. I think one of the things that will predict whether someone feels joy in their life or not, is the practice of gratitude.
Brene Brown, who authored the book Daring Greatly, says that joy is not a question of what happens to you, how much money you have in the bank, your looks, your kids, or the vacations you’re able to afford. It’s about actively choosing to practice….gratitude. And the things that surprised her in her research was that people were most grateful for the ordinary things in their lives. The sound of children laughing in the yard, the smell of bacon and eggs cooking in the morning, lunch with a special friend. The little things. In waiting for the BIG moments, we sometimes miss the experiences of life most worthy of celebrating.
So my message to you as we start a new year is this; whether in business or our personal lives, lets pay attention to the little things. The small, simple things done consistently, over and over again will lead to a successful life. There are no ordinary moments, just special moments to be celebrated.
You are all worthy and deserving of success. Find purpose and fulfillment in your daily walk, and continue to make a difference each day in the lives of those you serve.
